In The Shack!

Welcome In The Shack!
The shack is designed by and for the blind and visually impaired, and of course, any and everyone, blind, sighted, and anywhere in between, are welcome to hang around.
We have lots of interesting things planned for the In The Shack Network, which we hope everyone takes full advantage of, and finds very beneficial.

Online Store!

Our upcoming online store is being designed with the blind vender and consumer in mind. If you are anything from a high profile software or hardware designer, to a home maker who loves the art of hand crafts, your product is welcome.
Sighted vendors and consumers are perfectly welcome as well.
The guide lines for potential venders will be posted on our online store site when we open up the store for business.

Accessible Gaming!

We, here in the shack, are taking accessible gaming to a new level, from a different approach. The games currently being beta tested, are of the happy winnings variety! There are a few games being prepared which are going to work with the latest screen readers and screen magnifiers.
The games are also quite pleasing to the eye as well, so sighted people are welcome to play and win!
The first accessible game will be the shack's virtual slots. You can play with your choice of five token levels, which you can change at any time during your gaming experience; nickle, quarter, half-dollar, one-dollar, and five-dollar levels.
A membership for the gaming site will be required for both security and accounting purposes. If you already have a membership through the online store, your membership will also work on the accessible gaming site. You'll also have the added benefit of using your winnings to by products and services in the online store.

Adaptation Assistance Foundation!

Have you ever been in a situation where you needed some type of adaptive equiptment, or special assistance, but you were turned down by all government and private agencies, because you didn't meet their criteria? Or, maybe they decided your reason for needing this particular thing wasn't good enough?
Our purpose in lonching the adaptation assistance foundation is to help those who have exhausted all available resources and still never got the adaptive equiptment they needed. Whether it's hardware/software, special devices, personal care assistance, or some type of tutoring or training, we want to help as many as we are able.
All a potential client would need to do, is submit their request, alongwith a verifiable doctor's letter or report, and a small essay on how this product or service would be useful. If, for example, you are a blind or low vision single parent, and you feel a note taking device would help to keep track of your daily schedule, and also allow you to have some personal entertainment, this would be good enough for us. We believe everyone deserves a higher quality of life.
This particular resource is strickly for the blind and visually impaired for the time being, but we may expand to support other forms of disabilities in the future.
The funds for the foundation will come from the online store, the accessible gaming, and any donation received.

Resources For The Blind And Visually impaired!

On our resources site, we will be posting information as well as links to the web sites of some of our venders in our online store, as well as info and links to other sites for the blind and visually impaired. Some of them will be helpful sites, and others will be entertainment sites.
We're sure you'll find them very useful.

More Info!

First, we'd like to give our apologies for the lack of graphics on the site. We know for sighted viewers, this isn't visually pleasing, being you're used to seeing more multimedia. Don't fret, however, because as time goes on, there will be lots of graphics and multimedia as well as dynamic content added to our site.
We've recently added a few sighted commentators to our beta testing staff, who are very quick to give their visual opinions without compromising the accessibility concerns.
As each feature is added and made available on the shack's network, this page will reflect it. Be sure to check in periodically.
